🏀NBA Updates & Final Games of the Season

Yesterday actually settled a lot of seeding in the NBA. The Lakers are locked into the 3-seed and the Knicks are also locked into the three in the East. The Pacers and Bucks are going to face off in the 4/5 matchup with the Bucks winning in Detroit. The Pistons will face the Knicks. Both of these should be good matchups that go six or seven games.

The West is pure chaos still outside of the top three being settled. Anthony Edwards got another technical, meaning he is likely forced to sit out the T’Wolves final game tomorrow against Utah, which is a huge loss.

The biggest games on Sunday are the Warriors vs. Clippers. The Warriors can no longer be the 5-seed. They’re currently locked into the 6 spot but could still drop to number 7 with a loss to the Clippers. If the Clippers lose to the Warriors, they will drop down to the 7-seed.

If the Warriors lose to the Clippers, and the Timberwolves beat the Utah Jazz and the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State would fall to the No. 7 seed.

If Minnesota loses to the Jazz (big if!), the Warriors can still win the 6 seed with a loss to the Clippers.

The assumption is that the favorites will win, but we really don’t know. I also feel like the Clippers are being underrated right now. So, let’s go with the betting odds (even though T’Wolves will not have Ant) and project what the West will look like in terms of favorites winning.

If the Warriors, Nuggets, Grizzlies, Timberwolves, Thunder, Lakers and Kings win on Sunday, here's what the Western Conference standings would look like:

  1. Oklahoma City Thunder

  2. Houston Rockets

  3. Los Angeles Lakers

  4. Denver Nuggets

  5. Minnesota Timberwolves

  6. Golden State Warriors

  7. Los Angeles Clippers

  8. Memphis Grizzlies

  9. Sacramento Kings

  10. Dallas Mavericks

If the Warriors lose, while the Timberwolves, Nuggets, Grizzlies, Thunder, Lakers and Kings win on Sunday, here's what the Western Conference standings would look like:

  1. Oklahoma City Thunder

  2. Houston Rockets

  3. Los Angeles Lakers

  4. Denver Nuggets

  5. Los Angeles Clippers

  6. Minnesota Timberwolves

  7. Golden State Warriors

  8. Memphis Grizzlies

  9. Sacramento Kings

  10. Dallas Mavericks

NBA Eastern Conference playoff first round series

  • 3. New York Knicks (50-31) vs. 6. Detroit Pistons (44-37)

  • 4. Indiana Pacers (49-32) vs. 5. Milwaukee Bucks (47-34)

  • Play-ins: No. 7 Orlando Magic (41-40) vs. No. 8 Atlanta Hawks (39-42), No. 9 Chicago Bulls (38-43) vs. No. 10 Miami Heat (36-44)

🧠Betting Thoughts & Strategy Going Into NBA Playoffs

  1. Overall, I would take it easy betting tomorrow. The past few days have been difficult with a large amount of variability.

  2. Who is hot and who do we want to back that the books may not value? The Bucks and the Clippers. Why? They are likely going to match up against teams that play no defense. The Clippers have been playing great defense all year — their record is not indicative of how good this team is… Powell has sat a lot of time, Kawhi has sat a lot of time… this team has a loaded starting 5 and it is going to either take down the Nuggets or bring the Lakers to 7 games depending on where they land. The Bucks have also won 7 straight (very quietly). Kevin Porter Jr. is starting to look like a potential star. Damian Lillard might be back very soon. The Bucks just got back Bobby Portis, which helps offensively, but also fills their defensive rebounding gap — a huge difference maker. The Bucks are also the best three-point shooting team in the league. The Pacers do not look great lately and I think the Bucks could actually make a run in the East. The pieces are there, if the defense comes around.

  3. I’m watching the Bulls and hoping they make it in to play the Cavs. Cleveland has not looked good lately and is not playing their big-time players. The Bulls could take them to 7 games in the first round. This is not a joke.

  4. If Minnesota ends up in a play-in game, Ant is a no-brainer play for over on points. There is zero chance he is in a win or go home scenario and does not get up 25 shots and go to the FT line. I don’t care if his line is set at 30.

  5. I am betting against Memphis regardless of who they draw in the play-in game. Memphis will either end up with the Clippers or the Warriors. Both teams that play defense and are playoff tested. They will crush Memphis who has zero discipline and terrible on defense. Bad matchup for Memphis. Even if Memphis somehow draws Minnesota, I will again bet against Memphis.

  6. I will probably wait on the Bulls to see if they get through before betting on them against Miami. It’ll be a tough game. I’m looking to grab the Bulls as big underdogs, not a favorite or pick situation.

⛳️The Masters

Here’s a look at the update odds after Rory made a run yesterday. I’m personally rooting for Bryson since I got him at +1400. I think he has the upside to warrant a bet at +350 as long as he doesn’t blow up! I’d be surprised if one of those top 3 guys does not win this one.

⚾️MLB Bets Today

In honor of no NBA today, I will throw out some baseball bets because why not?

Here’s what I am going to play today with VERY SMALL money. Think of this as entertainment betting — like going to a movie or Top Golf or something like that :).

These are single picks but you can do what you want with them.
